KNOW YOUR WHY OR LOSE YOUR LIFE

THERE’S A REASON YOU NEED TO KNOW YOUR WHY

Goals

Now I’m not trying to strike any nerves with my post here but through out my website you will often find me referring to the WHY in everything. There’s power behind knowing YOUR WHY. The best way for me to share with you the power of why is to share a story.

(*Gee I really do like talking and writing about myself)

SEVENTEEN AND I KNEW EVERYTHING

I’ll bring you back to when I was about 17 and a little bit (BIG TIME) out of control. I wasn’t consistent in getting results in any area of my life but then again it’s rare to see 17 year old kids in my circle of influence getting them. I was already involved with the “experimentation” of alcohol, staying out past curfew (did I even have one?) and I just wasn’t connecting well with anyone long enough to take any advice or guidance. Long story short I was letting myself become influenced by things around me and making poor choices.  I thought I already knew it all and in fact had decided to stop learning anything. I was lost.  (That’s until my “Uncle” got a hold of me)

YOU WILL GO THROUGH CRAP!

I was lucky enough one year during a very long road trip from Nova Scotia to Ontario to spend time with “Uncle” and this time was a no holds barred kind of ride. My “Uncle” really let me have it at the core when it came to figuring out what the heck I wanted and made me stop to consider TAKING ALL THE BLAME for everything that was going on in my life.  He wanted me to become aware. To know that I can ultimately control the outcome of my success by focusing and doing the right things consistently. All of this was completely new to me. The ability to consciously make choices, write down goals, think about the future beyond the weekend, and just using my time wisely.

TO DO IS NOT ENOUGH. KNOW YOUR WHY!

Now he had me listen to ” THE STRANGEST SECRET ” both in the background as we chatted and while I slept at times. We weren’t in a rush home so I must have listened to it 10 times or more. (Repetition is critical)

It came to light that while anyone can do something you have to KNOW YOUR WHY. So an exercise my “Uncle” learned was shared with me and you will often find this exercise through out all self development books from some of the great leaders in our world like John Maxwell, Anthony Robbins, Les Brown and many more. (There might be a reason WHY)

When I share with you a little bit more about my “Uncle” later you will realize get to see that the WHY is more important than the HOW. I’ll also share with you a diagram I think that might help you visually see how I keep focused on my goals how you can use this image to get yourself closer to success.

WHAT’S YOUR OPINION?

Now I know some of you involved in my business and those I’ve never met achieving around the world already “KNOW YOUR WHY” so take a moment and share your thoughts.

TAKE ACTION! THINGS YOU CAN DO NOW:

  • How has knowing your why helped you succeed doing what you do personally and professionally?
  • Why should YOU have goals?
  • What are some things you do to be reminded of your goals?
  • What can you suggest people do if they don’t know what their WHY is?

FOR THOSE WHO NEED TO LEARN WHY HERE’S THE NEXT STEP:

  • Write down everything you want for yourself out of life. (Be Selfish!)
  • What do you want to HAVE? Who do you want to BE to your friends, family, loved ones and those you care about? (Do Comes Later!)
  • Write down everything you want for the people you care about out of life. (Be Generous!)
  • Write down how it would make you feel to accomplish these things you’ve listed. (Be Aware of these feelings)

I truly hope those of you involved in my business of appreciating others have taken my encouragement to complete this task to heart above everything else you do or plan to do when getting started on your path to success. Let’s continue to achieve.
